Every outdoor activity has its official regalia or garments that when worn, makes the activity easier to doand more enjoyable. Horseback riding is one such activity that requires that right ‘uniform’. You do not want to go riding a horse in shorts or a skirt because that just will not work. You need something that can withstand the friction and perspiration yet still feel comfortable next to your skin. A good horse rider knows just how essential the garments called jodhpurs are. Jodhpursare pants worn when one goes riding on horseback and they are often paired up with boots to complete the look. These pants are usually larger at the bottom and midway down but get very snug as one goes towards the calf.

If you are thinking that any other trousers that are flared at the top would be just as comfortable you are wrong. These pants are specifically designed for the purpose of horse riding. They make the rider go about his activities in an unhindered manner since there is free room for the motion of the thigh during riding. The snug fit towards the calf is so that the rider can wear boots to protect their feet and to aid them in holding on to the stirrups. Any other big trousers would not be comfortable because they will either be made of the wrong material and will cling to the body or they will simply just be the wrong fit. A horseback rider must therefore invest in this important item of clothing.

Jodhpurs are designed to be comfortable next to the skin even when worn for an entire day and that is why they are made from manmade materials that are most comfortable. Cotton, some element of polyester and elastic materials are the most commonlyused fabrics. These pants which get their name from one of India’s many cities (Jodhpur) are made using these materials so that they can absorb the riders sweat and release it leaving the rider cool at all times. Apart from being very breathable, they also have a stretchy nature that makes the movement of the thigh and leg very easy.

Horseback riding is an intricate affair that needs a lot of training before one can do it perfectly. This is the reason why one must understand that to be a good horse rider you must avoid injuries and chaffing which often occurs if one does not wear the right attire when riding.Jodhpurs are designed to make the riding experience as comfortable as is humanly possible. They have extra padding in the seat area and also on the inner thigh and knee. These areas experience the most impact during riding and therefore require extra fabric.
