Kanye West, Jay Z and Vic Mensa Inspire Marvel’s Newest Hip-Hop Comic Book Covers

By  |

Originally developed as a simple cross promotion between Run The Jewels and Marvel Comics, the collaboration has now blown up into one of the most coveted series of comic covers ever.

Through paying homage to select favorites dating to as far back as 1979 such as Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” the once-niche series has now taken life in the form of three more hip-hop variant covers paying tribute to Roc Nation Boss, Jay Z, Kanye, and Vic Mensa.

In this new collection, Mighty Captain Marvel’s cover has been graced with Kanye’s The Life of Pablo motif, Elektra’s by Jay Z’s American Gangster and Bullseye’s with Vic Mensa’s There’s A Lot Going On.

Check out the covers in the gallery above, and see if you’re able to point out the inspirations.

Earlier this year in October, another set was also released which you can check out here.
