Entrepreneurial MBE appointed as government's SME Representative

By  |

We have already seen plenty of headlines related to the recruitment sector post-Brexit, and by no means is this relevant only to Logistics Recruitment in which we have a particular interest here at BiS Henderson. A fair amount of recent coverage has arguably been speculative to the point of scaremongering, so we find it refreshing to find something positive in amongst the negativity.

That positivity comes in the form of the Small Business Crown Representative (appointed under new Prime Minister Theresa May) Emma Jones MBE, a leading entrepreneur with a record of extensive support for enterprise. Her appointment comes in support of the government’s manifesto commitment to spend £1 in every £3 on small to medium enterprises (SMEs) by 2020.

Outstanding news for SMEs everywhere

After working for an international accounting firm, Emma left to start her first business, which was sold to another company after just 15 months. Several years later, she launched Enterprise Nation, a community for small businesses that benefit from books, events and funding.

Soon after, Emma became one of eight co-founders of StartUp Britain, a national campaign that encourages more people to start a business, and that supports the growth objectives of existing businesses. She toured across the country with a group of entrepreneurs and experts, launched special projects and helped to encourage many more people to become their own boss.

A bright future for recruitment

Regarding her appointment, Emma commented: “I will be championing small business from within the heart of government, but with a big emphasis on rallying the small business troops to connect and engage with government opportunities.”

As a result of the new Prime Minister’s cabinet reshuffle, many other new appointments have been made of relevance to the world of recruitment. Damien Green has been made secretary of state for Work and Pensions, Ben Gummer MP is now minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General, and Penny Mordant has been appointed minister of state for the Department for Work and Pensions.

Whatever subsequent appointments may be made, we firmly believe that the signs are of a bright future for Supply Chain Recruitment Solutions and related areas of hiring. Please contact BiS Henderson today to learn more about our specialist expertise.
