Banditsu Gives a Nod to Punk Culture in “Selfish” Music Video

By  |

Ignoring the traditional music video formula, London-based artist Banditsu and R&B singer Taliwhoah unite for their “Selfish” video, which takes inspiration from the 1986 punk film Sid and Nancy.

The song’s message sheds light on human nature and the selfish tendencies we all have. Banditsu goes beyond lyrics to connect the audience to the message by creating a cinematic experience. “This is such a real song that I wanted to bring to light some of the issues we face as humans, I want people to know that they are not alone.”

Banditsu was also inspired to flip social constructs by intentionally projecting a world where racial stereotypes are flipped. He also pays homage to the punk scene, which he credits for transforming subculture, by collaborating with Underground shoes for the video.
